Immigration & Border Security

We should be a nation of laws that welcomes lawful immigrants as productive members of the community. However, our immigration system is broken, and the root of its brokenness is the failure of the Government to keep its word both to enforce immigration law and secure our border. Arizona took action out of frustration with failures at the Federal level, and they are also showing that it is not enough for state leaders to point fingers at Federal failure.

San Jacinto and Texas Sovereignty

On this day in history, April 21st, 1836, Sam Houston won a short but momentous battle on the banks of the San Jacinto river. Houston and his army of Texas volunteers surprised Santa Anna and his army, who were resting for a battle they had expected to fight the next day. Houston's army routed Santa Anna's army in  a mere 18 minutes, and Texas captured the tyrant Santa Anna and won her independence.

Taxes versus Jobs

Today, on the day Federal income taxes are due, many taxpayers and citizens upset with our out-of-control Government are taking to the streets, attending Tax Day Tea Party rallies. They have different backgrounds and come from different points on the political spectrum, but agree on one point: Excessive Government spending, regulation and taxation is a threat to our nation's freedom and prosperity.
